In my experience, the best text app would be the one you find easiest to use.  To find that app, you may have to try a couple until you settle on one that you like. Each app has different features, some more important to some people than others.  My personal favorite is Google Messages. It is easy to configure, has RCS and spam message controls. Others prefer Samsung Messages because it can be "prettified" with themes. However, currently, Samsung Messages is in limbo.  It was being phased out, but user demand brought back limited versions of it, but I don't believe Samsung has any real interest in keeping it alive for much longer.  Others use Textra, which I believe is a Microsoft product. Those would be the big three apps.  There may be others in the Play store, but they may come with ads or cost money to be ad free.  I can tell you, though, there likely is no "perfect" app.

Google Message FTW, i can access my RCS thru https://messages.google.com/ from my laptop easily

Oh, yes, I forgot to add the very important feature of being able to access messages on any device, even if the app is not installed.

Im using Samsung message because of the customization features. I wished Google messages would update to allow customization .
