How can disable or turn off "Play last song" feature?

How do I turn this so called "feature" off or disable. when connecting to my pick up and my work truck radio, it routinely plays the last thing. but only on the vehicles.

Not using android auto for this connection. connecting via bluetooth.

Which App are you using for your music?

Apple. but it also plays podcasts. app will replay last even after closing all apps. however apple music runs in the background.
