I purchased a Netgear WiFi 7 Mesh router and 1 satellite. When I look at available networks I can see my home network displays the wifi 7 symbol. But after I connect to my network it changes on yhe phone to wifi 6.

Why does it do that? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Wow, a lot of cool stuff there. I see WiFi 7 is enabled. The connection lab shows zero minutes on wifi 7. Anything in particular I should look for?

Theses are mine settings and at the bottom they have a diagnostic area to test the network 1758402545301.jpg

So I set the settings, I think I ran the diagnosis but not sure of the results. Probably a lost cause. I'm waiting for someone to say, reset your phone to factory default. I'm not sure what else to do. I'll pay a visit to my phone carrier but not expecting any change.

Did your phone company provide the Netgear or did the Netgear come from your home internet provider or are they the same your phone cell carrier provided home internet. Sorry for the delay driving to the store

I bought it myself. Actually the previous Netgear router I had was also a wifi 7 but I never looked at it that closely. It didn't connect at wifi 7 on that router either. Now, with the new one, I'm trying to figure out, why?

Id suggest taking your phone to a repair center for testing. And in the support tab on the bottom of the app you can run diagnostic testing.

Service locations.....none in my area. Go figure. I'll take it into a local carrier store and see if they can figure it out. I'll run the testing later and let you know. Thanks.

Ok I'm pretty sure bestbuy and ubreakifixit can do the testing if they are available.

Yes Best Buy is about 10 minutes from me. I'll check it out. Thank you for your help. You've been more help than the Tech Support people.

I found the solution on the Netgear Community site. To get wifi 7, the security on the router needs to be placed in mixed mode. Wifi 7 needs WPA3, so I changed the security to WPA2 and WPA3. Once I updated the router, the phone now connects and displays wifi 7.
