Galaxy S24

Just got my S24 Ultra and started to use. The GPS is very important to us as we travel and hike very often. Also, we take many photos and geotag them so we can see where we've been. First thing I notice is that my location is jumping around in Google Maps! My location isn't even close to my home, and it looks like I'm in other people's yards and bouncing all over the place. The precise location NEVER locks! This also initially happened with my galaxy S22U, but was eventually fixed.

I used the GPSTest utility to look at the gps data and the satellite acquisition is poor. Most of the L5 satellites are missing and Beidou satellites are far and few between. The gps accuracy and speed are jumping all over the place. My S22U accuracy was fixed at 8.4ft and speed close to zero, since not moving. My S24U accuracy is bouncing all over but typically around 33ft, and my speed can reach 10mph! This is completely frustrating. Anyone else having this issue, or did I get a bad phone? Zoom in down to the outline of your home to see this problem on Google Maps.
By the way, I tested the the gps location accuracy using the Samsung phone diagnostics and it said "normal". Normal compared to what? Samsung, I hope you're seeing this, and please fix asap. I will be returning this phone if this basic necessity can't be fixed, unfortunately.😞

I am having the same issue. I am starting to think Samsung phones aren't that great. I work off my phone and my GPS crashed on me. I had to call the customer and get step by step directions. This isn't good and it is costing me a ton of money. I do Instacart and we have to sit close to the stores to get orders and because my GPS is off I am not getting orders.

  • Is there a solution to this GPS issue with the s24 ultra? It was only lately that it hasn't been working. Used to work fine!

Same here with 24 ultra GPS. It's been 3 months since working correctly. Only works when using into Android Auto

Similar for me. Just got S24+ and whilst using it for hoofle maps directions in the car it just said 'GPS service unavailable' for the whole journey. My friend had no such problem on his Sony android Sat right next to me.

Didt seem to be a problem when I stopped and got out of the car, only when I was driving in it. I just upgraded from an S20+ that never once told me GPS was unavailable.  I think they have a chipset or antenna problem or something.

Willprobably send my phone back and switch to non samsung.

I though I had fixed this problem on mine months ago by ensuring that in the permissions for Maps I had it set to location access being allowed all the time. In the last couple of weeks the problem is back again though and always seems to happen most when I am travelling to a new place so that I actually get to the point where I have to pull over and restart Google maps for it to work again. Was it the latest update maybe that started the problem again?
