Galaxy S24Do two things, clear the app cache of the contacts app and then clear the phone's cache partition. You may also have to clear the contacts' app data (if clearing both caches doesn't work). This will reset all the contact app settings you set (custom ringtones, favorites designations, possibly groups), but no contacts will be lost. You will then have to set that all up again.

Galaxy S24I haven't cheated the cache position because I don't want all my settings cleared. There should be another reason for this happening?

Galaxy S24Clearing the phone's cache partition will not clear your settings. It will only clear out junk files. Clearing the app data from the contacts app will clear the settings for that app only. It's up to you whether you want to fiddle with a few settings or live with your favorite contacts disappearing intermittently.
