Can I mute notifications from a specific contact?

Hi I'm a new android user and was wondering how I mute texts from a specific contact

Samsung currently has two default text messaging apps, Samsung Messages and Google Messages. Which are you using, please?

Press and hold on the App icon, tap the circle 'i' icon, scroll down, tap 'app details in store'. The app name will be at top.

The regular texting app and no not block just mute

I want the notifications for a specific contact to be silent in the regular text messaging

I don't think you can for only one specific contract.
