Ugly update

This latest update has made everything look bulky and awkward!

Honestly I don't know what everyone is complaining about with the look of the update.  My phone's look has not changed one iota.  It may be because I have used a custom wallpaper and icon pack, but I don't personally know anyone for whom the update changed the look of their phones. Didn't happen with 7 and didn't happen with 8.  Besides, with the customization options in OneUI and Good Lock, you can change the look if you don't like it.  You can even revert to the original Android icons by downloading them from the Play store.  I understand the design of the widgets has changed, but I don't use any that are more than 2x1 anyway, so that also did not change noticeably for me.   Try using the customization options to redesign your phone to make it less ugly.

It's the basic stuff like how all the text has its own little background bubbles. Even posting in FB has them so the text isn't directly on the background

That looks like more of something in your settings or left over bits of data, than anything the update did because that's not what the update looks like.  Did you wipe the phone's cache partition after your phone updated?  I assure you that if that was happening to everyone, you wouldn't even be able to get on this app from the server traffic that would occur.
