The stock voicemail app will not notify me if I have a voicemail, ever.

My parents called me last week and my mom left me a message that my dad was sick. I didn't receive the call so I didn't know there was a voicemail. After missing a call from someone I knew I dialed my voicemail and friend there were MANY voicemails there. Including one from the state about arranging an inspection from the state for my farm. From 4 months ago!

I haven't received a single notification. I called my number and left a voicemail again with no notification.

FIX IT!

What phone are you using? The s20-24 do not have a voicemail app. Voicemail is handled by the phone app. Again go to the play store and download your carriers voicemail app.

Okay then tell me where to find a Samsung visual voice mail app and share a Pic of it. Because Samsung discontinued it some years ago. There is no voice mail app on the newer Samsung phones. It's simply a function of the phone app.

There's a lot of Google results for this but I would ask these questions:
Are you using an unlocked phone?
What carrier are you using?
What device is used?
What OS is used?
What date is your security update at?
Do you have 2 voicemail apps installed on your phone? (Carrier & Samsung) could be both are working against each other.

Conditions for use constantly change. Carriers can one day allow use then remove support. Generally, when you start a voicemail app it triggers a code to be sent to the carrier which aligns the voicemail number with the app. Your phone should have a carrier voicemail app pre-installed. Verify that the voicemail number in the settings matches the one displayed in the problem app. If correct and the problem is still occurring then the notification process might be stalled and you won't get alerted because the app isn't communicating properly.

Are you able to see the voicemails when you're in the app or are they missing altogether. If you can see the messages from the app and just aren't getting alerts then there's a software issue and most likely tied to the app and not the phone. Uninstall and reinstalling can help if the original download had issues or corruption during download. It can happen. If you can't access the app from the store then there's a clear sign the phone doesn't support it anymore or the carrier stopped support which is causing all sorts of bugs.

It could boil down to the fact that you're using an app that's not stable or supported by the phone/carrier causing all sorts of hidden issues. Bugs also develop if you're using an app that is no longer updating on the device. This can be device specific and because one persons app works doesn't mean yours will.

Unfortunantly this isn't a one solution approach and there aredozens of variables. which is why you aren't getting clear answers. I do see that unlocked phones have known issues with this app. The more details provided with less hostility generally helps the community come together to problem solve. Or you can just Google it. As i mentioned there is an abundance of info related to "samsung visual voicemail app". What common fixes are out there has been suggested here so you will have to look for the uncommon fixes.
