The piece of **bleep** s23 ultra I bought never updated. I'm still running android 13 (one ui 5.1) and I have had it for a year and 5 months. Now I can't send messages to apple users. I am very upset with this purchase. Also my quick panel only has 2 rows of the buttons instead of 3. I don't have a data toggle button anymore either. I used to love samsung but I called them, called AT&T. I factory reset the phone 3 times and I'm not doing it again. Might switch to iphone

You have to edit the quick panel to add more buttons and arrange them in the order you want. If you want to send messages to Apple users you have to switch to Google messages and turn on RCS. Don't blame the phone because you don't know how to use it. As for the updates try connecting your phone to a computer and downloading smart switch for computer and forcing an update.

While most Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra software updates are designed to be done directly over-the-air (OTA) via Wi-Fi, there are some scenarios where using a PC might be helpful. Here's a breakdown of the general approach and some important considerations:
General Approach:
* Samsung's Software Tools:
* Historically, Samsung has provided PC software like "Samsung Kies" or "Smart Switch" to manage devices and perform updates. While OTA updates are now the primary method, these tools might still offer some utility.
* It's important to check the Samsung support website for the most current and compatible software for your S23 Ultra.
* Carrier-Specific Tools:
* If your S23 Ultra is from a specific carrier (like Verizon, AT&T, etc.), they might have their own PC software tools to facilitate updates. For example, Verizon references a "Software Upgrade Assistant tool". Therefore, visiting your carriers support webpage could be useful.
* Standard OTA Updates:
* It's crucial to understand that the most common and recommended way to update your S23 Ultra is directly on the device itself:
* Go to your phone's "Settings."
* Find "Software update."
* Tap "Download and install."
* If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions.
Important Considerations:
* Keeping Software Current:
* Ensure any PC software you use is downloaded directly from the official Samsung or your carrier's website to avoid security risks.
* Data Backup:
* Regardless of the update method, it's always a good practice to back up your important data before performing any software update.
* Connection Stability:
* If using a PC, ensure a stable USB connection between your phone and computer.
* Over the air updates are the Standard:
* Most if not all updates will be pushed to the device via over the air updates. So in most cases, a PC will not be needed.
Where to Find Information:
* Samsung Support: The official Samsung support website is the best source for accurate and up-to-date information.
* Your Carrier's Website: If your phone is carrier-branded, check their support pages for any specific instructions.
I hope this helps!

realaud, you really think i don't know about phones(not trying to sound rude) ? I have been using Google messages with rcs and when I edit the quick panel there is no option for the data button and I can't change the number of rows. Also connected the phone to my computer and never works

I don't know what you know or don't know.  You evidently have a defective phone that you held onto for a year and a half rather than returning it or requesting a warranty repair while you could.  Now anything else you do is at your own expense. Was it originally a factory unlocked phone or was it an AT&T branded locked model - perhaps AT&T disabled some stuff.  You said you reset your phone several times, but did you restore your backup with the same errors or start from scratch?  Maybe your phone needs to be re-flashed with original firmware. If your connecting to a computer does not work, perhaps it's because you are using the wrong cable.  You are supposed to use the cable that came with your phone, and if your computer does not have a USB-C port, you need an adapter.  Your USB ports also must be USB 2.0 or 3.0.

No one is stopping you from going to Apple if that's what you want to do, but you could also just buy either a different model of Samsung, or another Android brand.  It's not a choice between Apple or Samsung.

I am using the cable that came with the phone. It is an AT&T locked phone. I did backup the phone and use the same backup. Before I used the backup I tried to update it and it said it was up to date and no updates were available

Then AT&T would have added their own firmware and perhaps deliberately only made the quick panel 2 rows instead of 3.  I never buy carrier locked phones, so I don't know which carriers disable which features, but I do know that Verizon & AT&T are needlessly restrictive.  If you want to keep the phone, you will need to unlock it and find out how to flash the firmware. If you think it's a piece of junk and not worth the effort, purchase another phone.  But whether you stick with Samsung, go to Apple or choose another Android brand, select a factory unlocked model.  Never let your carrier decide which features of *your* phone you can use.

Ok thanksšŸ˜Š. I will probably see if I can get a replacement because it's under warranty. The only problem is I don't think I can get a new one because AT&T says the phone has to have physical damage.
