Hello, I have a problem. I have been using routines with my Galaxy S23. When I arrive at work (address), I set my mobile data to be enabled and my sound to be turned off.

However, lately, my routine doesn't start, and I have to manually enable mobile data. Do GPS and location not work in routines without a connection?

Yes, location should work without an internet, if that is how the routine is set up and you have location tracking on; however, if you're in an area where the phone can't get a clear GPS signal, it will attempt to triangulate your location using cell towers, which means you need to be connected to your network.

Screenshots of the routine settings would be helpful here.

Try expanding the radius around the address in the mode/routine. Google maps does not know the relative size of the building, so it may not actually recognize where you are., especially if there is more than one entrance, or its a large building. If you go out of the range Google maps thinks you are in, the routine may think you left and returns to the previous status.

Why do you turn mobile data off at all? If you are at home connected to your wifi network and have wifi calling on, you data goes through your home internet connection, as well as calls and texts. As soon as you disconnect from a wifi network, your mobile data becomes active, until you once again connect to a wifi network. Bottom line is that if you keep mobile data on at all times, it does not get used while you are connected to any wifi network, or the netwok you are connected to has a weak signal. Once disconnected from wifi, mobile data becomes active and you would have no need for the routine. So, if you have a limited mobile data plan, you are unlikely to go over. If you are on a limited plan, you can set a data warning and cap on the phone, where mobile data just stops and turns off when reached. You can override the cap if you need to

Totally agree with @realaud. I would also suggest, that if you are connection to the wi-fi at work, that you add that as a criteria for starting the routine as well, as in my home routine example (see attached). Then when either condition is met, the routine witil start.

In addition, I don't have my data turned off when I'm home and connected to my Wi-Fi, but do have the 'Data Saver' turned on to ensure that most of my apps will only connect via Wi-Fi to ensure that it doesn't use my prepaid limited plan data. Thus, should my internet go down, I'll still have access to important apps via my network and won't use data on other apps until the internet is restored. 1736522636847.jpg
