I cannot believe that Samsung has gotten rid of RCS

And wants us to go to the Google Messenger again.
Who else is worried about unencrypted text messages.
It's not that I sent anything naughty, it's about stuff we talked about which is personal, and now that stuff is not even security anymore.
Shame on Samsung.

Samsung messages DOES HAVE RCS.
In your contacts, if you see a blue dot next to their name in the samsung messages app, you're both on RCS.

As of January 5, 2025, Samsung will remove RCS functionality from Samsung messages.  The notice could not have been any clearer. So, if you have RCS enabled now in Samsung messages, it will no longer be in January and all those blue dots will go away.  If you want to continue using RCS, you will have to switch to Google messages.  If you want to keep using Samsung messages, you will have to give up RCS.

Only on Verizon does RCS end in Jan.

No, it ends in Samsung messages for all carriers. Verizon is just sending out a message telling their users of the change.  Other carriers may follow suit of sending messages.  I think Verizon is sending out the notification because they recently killed their own app, which many of their subscribers were using, and those users may have switched to Samsung messages. RCS support from all carriers will be strictly in Google Messages (and, I guess, whatever Apple is now using).

Not T mobile. That I know for sure. At least not on Jan 5th.
But soon enough we will all have to take that leap

Again, it is not Verizon or T-Mobile, or any carrier ending RCS support for Samsung messages, IT IS SAMSUNG THEMSELVES ending support and, if you are using Samsung messages, you WILL NOT have RCS functionality after January 6 on any carrier.

No, only Verizon sent their subscribers notification that SAMSUNG is ending RCS in their app. RCS will be supported by all carriers only on Google messages.

We will find out Jan 6th. I see NOTHING about any other carrier following suit on Jan 5th.
Where did you get your info?

There truly is a reading and comprehension problem in this country.  I got my information from the message Verizon sent (I do not have Verizon, it was forwarded to me by a friend).  The message could not have been written in any plainer language.  "Verizon Msg:  Samsung Messages will no longer support RCS after 1.6.2025."  It does not say VERIZON will no longer support RCS in Samsung Messages but, rather that SAMSUNG messages will no longer support RCS.  It is NOT carrier specific.  It is Samsung Messages specific.  If you want RCS functionality after 1.6.2025, you will have to switch to Google, regardless of which carrier you are using.  If you don't care about RCS, you do not have to switch.
