On One UI 7, the highest number of notifications that it'll put in the top notification bar is 3. I used to have it set ti unlimited, but I can't find that option anymore.
Was it removed? If it was removed, why? Why remove an option, instead of just leaving it there for us? Quit thinking you know how your consumers want to use their phone better than they do, Samsung!

Limiting the notifications to 3 icons in the status bar has been the default for several versions. The only change here was they removed the configuration setting for changing it back to "as many as will fit".

I didn't know why they would remove the setting. Not being able to see all my notifications without pulling down the bar is a pain.

Yeah this is a huge regression for me. I also really dislike both the stacking notifications and how the minimized notifications are huge now.

THANK YOU. I have screenshots from my Note 8 and S10+ of the notification shade, and they're MILES better than these new ones. It's baffling.

In pursuit of copying Apple, Samsung lost its original users. Typical Samsung. Hope they release and update which brings back visibility of all the icons.

This update really annoys me. Especially using a Fold and seeing that empty notification bar with the annoying dot after three notifications.

Thought I was crazy, but powered on my old Note 20 Ultra and showing all notifications was the first option in settings > notifications > advanced settings.

Please bring this option back Samsung. Or at least put it in Good Lock17485905038264580631373265184921.jpg

This sucks! I'm missing stuff because of only seeing 3

I don't understand how people are missing stuff because there's only 3 notification icons. If you see even one icon,  you know you have a notification waiting.  If you see 2 and a dot, you know you have at least three waiting, why wouldn't you pull down your notification shade to see what those notifications are?  And, why, if you now *know* you only get three icons, you don't pull down the notification shade to see your notifications?

You can add notifications to your lock screen.  You can download Good Lock/Notistar and review all your notifications, even ones you may have swiped away by accident. You can have them appear on the lock screen (but they are not visible until you tap the icon to see them).  Even when you were allowed more than 3 icons, you were likely missing something important because there is only so much space on the notification side of the navigation bar.

There are certain notifications that one might not be interested in at that time. For instance, a text message notification is probably going to be more important to someone than some other ones that they might want to ignore for now. I chew up 3 notifications alone with just with a couple weather related ongoing notifications and SignalCheck Pro.

As it stands, there is is about 1/2" of real estate in that notification bar that sits unused the vast majority of the time.  Looking back at an old screenshot I had, I used to be able to do 8 of them, and now I can only do 3. It's absolutely maddening.

I'm curious though, you seem to be the only one defending this design decision, are you the UX designer at Samsung who made this decision?

What do you enjoy most about being limited to 3 icons rather than possibly 8 with 1/2" of empty space? You are all about a cleaner look?

So it looks like Samsung did this for a place to put a notification for like when you are playing music or other media. That's fine, but if you're not playing music, give the space back for 8 notification icons total, and give the ability to customize this, whether it be in UI7 or through Good Lock. If music is playing, you could truncate it down to 3. This doesn't sound like earth shattering software development to implement that.

If this design decision is not reversed or at least give the ability for the user to chose to use all the screen real estate, I know my next phone won't be a Samsung.

This is A Google/Android mandate. You will see the same on any Android phone running Android 15 and 16.
