Navigation Bar used to be able to disappear and bring it back up, bring that feature back!

Prior to the update that did more harm than good, the navigation bar used to disappear after a few seconds, allowing me to access things along the bottom of app screens. Tapping the screen would bring the bar back up so I could navigate the phone. Post update, the bar doesn't disappear, and I cannot fully use some apps (app's menu is at the bottom of the screen, visible under the navigation bar, but untouchable). 

Can I change that back (no, I don't want swipe gestures. I want buttons on a bar that will disappear until needed again) or is this yet ANOTHER way Samsung us over with a garbage update?

No change. And I shouldn't have to download an app (the suggested GoodLock garbage) just to have basic functions.

If you don't want to download Good Lock, then don't. You are not forced to. But, it is not "garbage" it is Samsung's official customization suite of apps. In the short term, if you want your navigation bar to hide or show, you will have to use NavStar. If you just want to wait around and stomp your feet until Samsung gets around to (if ever), addressing the issue, then knock yourself out. A short term solution was offered, that you choose not to take it is on no one but you.

I have the same exact issue as does my mother for her phone. We both have S25's. We shouldn't have to download another app for this to be fixed.

Maybe you shouldn't have to,  but right now NavStar's show/hide feature  is the fix.  Put in an error report and hope it will be addressed in a patch or future update.  The "other app" is a Good Lock module.  Good Lock is Samsung's official customization suite, and if users want to customize or work around issues, they should have at least one module on their phone.

Just had the update, S23 Ultra, totally messed my phone up, navigation bar as per the original post,  on off button on side of phone changed to bixby (managed to sort that now) other annoying features too... duff update!! Also since when did updates just happen rather than giving the option to delay till convenient time?

Perhaps Pixels or ANY OTHER ANDROID phone doesn't have this issue.😠

I can't deposit checks from my phone anymore because of this!! The camera button for taking a picture of the check is now not accessible because the navigation bar won't hide. And for some reason the gesture option even when enabled it doesn't work. I need this feature back!!

I'm so frustrated this is keeping me from soooo many things AND WE SHOULD NOT HALF TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING . we are pay for service and in return getting frustrated , unable to use basic phone functions and it's like having a phone that's NOT SO SMART

This needs to be fixed back like it was before, navigation bar should not cover apps and this needs addressed by manufacturer. Not giving us a work around
