The change won't affect you when you have Android 15. It only affects Windows devices.

I don't follow you. I use dex with my windows 11 pc. I use it with s10 which is currently one ui 4.1 and Android 12. If I want to upgrade to a new Samsung phone, it would presumably be versions of one ui that aren't supported. So it sounds like it would affect me, eventually.

What I don't think Samsung truly appreciates is that many of us use Dex for Windows to encapsulate a home computing environment and use it at work, rather than using Dex as a work or productivity tool.

That is, I use Dex for Windows to answer personal emails, access apps and websites for personal use, and otherwise maintain a presence in my personal life while I'm at work.  Dex for Windows is better than the phone screen for that purpose for the same reasons Dex is better than the phone's screen for work-related activities.

Despairing that Samsung does not realize this and will not come to their senses, I am going to have to add a docking station and separate mouse and keyboard to my phone, and either use a USB video capture device to get the screen into a window, or add a KVM switch to switch one monitor and my keyboard and mouse  between the phone and my desktop PC.  This is very inconvenient and clunky, and exposes me to the risk that my employer will object to my setup.

Samsung, you will not attract users to your platform by taking popular and useful features away from your user base, forcing us to spend money and time to compensate.  Get a clue.

Hi Samsung,

The Dex on the phone is a very practical and useful feature. Some times when I connect my phone to the external monitor, it is easier to work with in comparison to windows. I am using it every day. I vote for keeping and updating the Dex on the phone.

Keep up the good work Samsung šŸ™‚

They are only discontinuing Dex for Windows, and plan to retain it in the phone at least for now.

Me too, but the post I was answering talked about "Dex on the phone".  Dex on the phone is not being discontinued, only the Dex program for Windows.

See this thread for possible solutions for replacing Dex for Windows:  https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S24/Substitute-for-Dex-for-Windows/m-p/3105522#M69380

A picture is worth a thousand words so let's start with that:

Is samsung for real? The main advantage of a Samsung phone is that we can finally have proper access to our phones content, screen, apps, etc... through wifi, something that is impossible otherwise!

Why on earth is Samsung killing an awesome and much needed feature like this making it just another android brand with their own boring take on android ui?

Link to Windows is a pathetic joke and does not do 10% of what Samsung Dex uses, for the following reasons:

1) You cannot view your screen in landscape, you cannot even view your screen  in portrait without it being a blurry ugly mess for that matter and  you are greated with extremely low fps, but what about desktop mode view you ask? Well... let me tell you that is completely gone aswell!

2) You cannot do interactions between your phone and your pc seamelessly without some stupid  100 file limit, Samsung Dex also has a file limit of 10x over that! And let's not forget getting those selected is an incredibly boring and time consuming process, something that is not an issue with Samsung Dex at all click the first, go down to the last you want, shift click that, drag and drop into your PC explorer and wait a few seconds/minutes to copy an entire selection of up to 1000 files! Which brings me to the next point:

3) You cannot use multi select features such as ctrl or shift + click, or ctrl+c or ctrl+v, etc... like you can on Samsung Dex.

4) You cannot copy any single file larger than 512mb! Which means, do you want to backup a video, project or any large file? Tough luck.

4) Phone Link is buggy, it freezes randomly, it's low quality programming and nowhere near Samsung Dex.

How on earth is then Samsung claiming that Link To Windows is a replacement? It's like saying your bicycle is a replacement for your car.

I'm already dissapointed with the SPen downgrade of S25 ultra, extremely dissapointed that they chose to replace an already excelent ultrawide camera with a bigger res but same sensor size giving basicaly no improvement in photos, which is fine by me except we are forgetting the fact that the we desperately needed an upgrade for that horrifying 10mp 3x zoom sensor that upscales any photos to 12mp and is low detail and full of noise even in daylight!

And now this... we are losing important features for the sake of what? This is mind boggling to say the least!

Samsung is Killing Samsung Dex on all phones including previous flagships because of S25 Ultra crappy and boring One UI 7!
