How to prevent PIN access, leave only biometric access ON

In third world countries when you get robbed, thieves are asking for your PIN with a gun to your head. Some sensitive apps can be stored in the secure folder, but that can always be unlocked with PIN, even if you activate the fingerprint unlock.

Is there a way to make it fingerprint only? So only I could ever access it, ever.

What about the same but for the lock screen?

You can't. You have to have a pin along with biometrics. You can set a pin without biometrics though

They require the pin because fingerprint readers aren't 100% reliable, or something could happen to your hands.

Thanks for reaching out. Support for US products is the focus of this forum. As your device is a non-US model information is severely limited. We kindly suggest that you use this link to look for a support team in the area your product was manufactured in: https://www.samsung.com/visitcountry/

Did you know? Your region more than likely has a community of it's very own!! Check out the following link and join the community in your region: https://r2.community.samsung.com/

I have my Secure Folder secured with the pattern lock or fingerprint, not the the PIN. When exiting, ensure you use the 'Exit and lock' for added security.

So in those countries, they cannot point a gun to your head and demand you touch the fingerprint scanner?  Sounds like the criminals there are quite dumb.

If they kill you they cannot get your PIN anymore, but they do still have access to your fingerprints, sounds to me like a pin is way more secure.

I'm talking about what happens, not what I think is going to happen. There are lots of cases where they make you say your PIN so them later in a safe place they can join your accounts and send money or call friends in whatsapp pretending to be you, asking for money. I welcome you to search how and why it things happen like this. There's no sense in killing to get the fingerprint, there would be no time to do this stuff in the street with everyone looking, this argument does not make sense. I think you are unfamiliar on how things happen.

Google Pay via NFC does not work after minutes of a phone unlocked, but they can unlock again with the PIN, not fingerprint because they would be already gone. Bank account apps also will ask for your fingerprint, but you can bypass by th PIN, which is what I'm asking to not be done anymore on Samsung. Same for secure folder.

Apple already realized this and it looks like they listened to what was happening here in Brazil, as they introduced a feature recently where only biometric data can unlock in case of theft. I don't know why Samsung does not do this stuff, it looks like they are clueless about how these things happen.

To prevent PIN access and enable only biometric access on your Samsung Galaxy S22, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings: Tap on the Settings app on your phone.

  2. Go to "Biometrics and Security": Scroll down and tap on Biometrics and Security.

  3. Tap on "Screen Lock Type": Here, youā€™ll see options for locking your phone.

  4. Select "Fingerprint" or "Face Recognition": Set up either Fingerprint or Face Recognition if you havenā€™t already. Youā€™ll need to follow the prompts to set them up if you haven't enabled them.

  5. Disable PIN/Password/Pattern: Once your biometric option is set, you can disable the PIN by selecting None for Screen lock. However, keep in mind that disabling the PIN might not be possible in some regions, as the system requires a backup method for security.

  6. Use Only Biometric Access: After setting your preferred biometric option (fingerprint or face recognition), you can use this as your primary method to unlock your device.

If you can't completely disable the PIN, itā€™s usually required as a backup for security reasons, but biometric access will still be the primary method to unlock your phone.
