Ever since the September update came out I haven't been able to get past it I have T-Mobile and all I keep hearing about is Samsung might have put it on a hold and the January update is going to fix everything and everything should be back to normal I want to know what's really going on and how bad or how crucial this could be going towards future updates for the phone. As of right now I'm currently stuck on the September update.

All we know is that Samsung paused Play system updates "to avoid potential issues" (whatever that means) and they've said they'll restart them this month. Personally, I don't see that happening, but you never know.

I don't sweat the updates if everything is working well.

I have th Samsung S23 Ultra, am also on T-Mobile and Google Maps is beyond FUBAR. So much so, that I completely abandoned it and went to Waze and haven't looked back. Then if insult to injury wasn't enough, voice recognition can't even find anything near me while driving. Oh well, back to old school and rediscovering the roads the old fashion way. And of course the only person left to blame and hold the bag is me for ultimately relying on an overpriced piece of hardware that no one wants to take responsibility for because it's too easy to point the finger for 3rd party problems. So over a thousand dollars for a phone, 6/7 hundred for a tablet. Thank God I didn't buy anymore contraptions. When these become obsolete and hit end of life, I'm done with tech. Good old fashion computer and goodbye and good riddance to unreliable, unsecured technology. Money stays in my pocket now. Call me on my landline or better yet. Don't call me lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyways guys the fact is we we pay for a phone for it's hardware we pay for a phone for the camera to pay the phone for the software and the software updates and it's a package deal we get updates for Android and we're supposed to get updates for Google and it's been a cluster you know what and it is unexcusable on their side to not put out anything and say hey this is what's going on we're going to have a pause and everything will get back to normal because we're doing testing for the beta 8.5 but here we are with no answer and it's frustrating not me but hundreds of thousands of people who rely on these updates for security sometimes new features in a world that's evolvingly a new security threat like every day especially with the use of AI a lot of people might not sweat that but for me I buy this not just for the features but for the security itself but all in all is unexcusable on their part to not announce that their partner Google and their updates are being put on hold for the foreseeable future and let it ride as if our phones are broken and we don't know what the **bleep** to do

This is all on Samsung. They're the ones holding back these updates. It's not the first time they've delayed Play system updates for months, and it certainly won't be the last. It's all due to how bloated (excuse me, "feature-rich") One UI is as a skin. No other OEM takes such a "kitchen sink" approach with their skin. Samsung wouldn't have to take so long to ensure compatibility with their OS if they didn't cram so much into it.

And you know what's crazy is after I posted that I got a Google Play services update which downloaded by itself but how so not random and from what I heard the new Galaxy phone the s26 was supposed to be released this month but then got pushed back another month because of the beta which further pushes back whenever we get anything which makes it even more frustrating when if you're going to copy Apple why not do the same with the schedule even though I know everything has to be competition

You can't compare Samsung's update schedule or process to Apple's. The sheer number of device models alone makes it apples to watermelons (pun intended).

EDIT: Play services is different from Play system. Play services is a core component that is needed to keep everything running. Play system is updates for security & performance.
