This is largely an issue of infrastructure.

Even on the S25 series, Samsung Messages RCS support is carrier dependant. For most carriers, it will not be supported.

Most carriers have transitioned to Google's version of RCS because it runs through Google's servers, tends to be more compatible with iOS, and doesn't require the carrier to build and maintain their own RCS infrastructure.

Samsung and Google have publicly stated the GMessages is the platform of choice to encourage and achieve mass RCS adoption.

Makes me crazy the people who refuse to make the switch to Google Messages because it is not PRETTY ENOUGH!

I'm sure some of it is aesthetic.

I'm extremely particular about design... there are plenty of visual elements that drive me batty (many of which are reportedly being fixed in 8.5, thank God) but Google Messages isn't one of them. Since they removed the ugly RCS backgrounds and fixed the ugly blue-green bubbles, it literally looks like every other messaging app. Blue bubbles on a white or dark background.

Honestly, I think most of it is just reluctance to change. At some point people are going to have to come to terms with the fact that GMessages is the new default and it is objectively superior.

I get why Samsung didn't, and it was very gracious, but personally I wish they would have just discontinued it and forced the switch to avoid the seemingly unending confusion.

They should've just ripped off the band-aid. Now it's unnecessarily painful.

Complain to your carrier! It is carrier dependent!

My S25U doesn't have RCS chat features on Verizon!

If it is that important to you, find a carrier that does support it and switch to them!

Otherwise in order to have the full set of features that are in RCS, especially for your contacts using Iphones you will have to switch to Google Messages!

Mmm did not know that about Verizon or certain carriers. I guess no need to complain. Thanks for keeping me informed.

It is because RCS chats require a larger infrastructure to support the millions of messages that get sent daily. Carriers want you to use Google because they go through Google servers from Google to Google. Google to Iphone it works like this, Google server, carrier server, iPhone server if both have RCS chats on. Defaults to SMS If either party doesn't have chat services enable. Iphone to iPhone goes through Apples servers.
