Galaxy S23The best method for reducing these kinds of calls is to never, ever answer a phone call from a number that is not in your contacts, even if you think it may be someone actually trying to reach you. When you answer the call, spammers/scammers know they have hit a live number and will continue to call from different numbers.
Don't even decline the call. Even that registers as a positive hit, and they will add your number to a list, most likely selling your info. Just let anything that isn't a saved contact ring through.
If someone truly needs to reach you, they will almost always leave a voicemail.

Galaxy S23By interacting in any way, you are giving them exactly what they want. Your info WILL be harvested and sold, and the calls WILL increase.

Galaxy S23With all due respect, you are advising OP to worsen their situation. If you have seen a reduction in spam calls while engaging in this behavior, it is more likely due to increased spam protection from your carrier rather than your behavior, and you are assuming a false causation here.
I don't say this to be unkind or argumentative, but your advice is not accurate and will be more harmful than helpful to the OP.
You don't have to take my word for it. Here is the official guidance from the FCC.
