My s22 ultra has been factory reset by a series of unfortunate events, and all my data is gone on the phone.
However, it was some how backed up to my laptop, I can see all the files on there, but it won't let me access them. for example, when I try to open an image it tells me the phone needs to be connected to the laptop.
it sucks so bad that all my photos and stuff are right there, but I can't access them. any help would be appreciated!

nope, don't have any cloud back ups unfortunately. I've always backed up to my pc/laptop when I switch phones. (stupid, I know). I've had ambitions to setup a NAS for so long, and now I'm kicking my self for not doing it.

It not stupid to back up to the computer, one should always have an independent base backup.

Maybe your backup was actually made with smart switch and you forgot. Have you tried connecting the phone and opening smart switch fo see uf it finds the backup? As I recall, the backup created has the device name, it does not say smart switch backup.
