After updating yesterday to Android 16/UI 8, my SIM card is no longer recognized.
My phone tells me to insert a SIM card when 8 try and turn mobile networks on my phone diagnostics say the SIM card is good, just can't connect to a network.
I can't make any changes as the 'Access Point Names' and 'Network Operators' are greyed out.
Also, when I go to check for system update it says there's no info about the latest update... And I get an error message if I try and run a check...
Did my update somehow get botched? His so I force a re-update?

I switched from Verizon to Mint Mobile 6 months ago, and this is my first major update since. but I bought the phone already unlocked. Did this update somehow reset it? Why can't I make changes like I did when I switched networks?
Will a factory reset get me around this? (Able to modify my access point and network?)
Desperate to not buy a new phone just yet 🥺

This is ridiculous I also have an a53 that won't recognize the Sim after update. Why would you have 5 individuals contact carriers when your engineers have access to what they really need to trouble shoot the problem. So passing the buck. I'm losing money cause your update broke my phone. Release an announcement first of all, then get to work fixing this. It's only going to get worse.

Same for me (S21FE). Since the update in the morning, SIM Card is not detected, hence no phone and no internet. Starting the SIM Manager takes very long time and SIM-Card is not (longer) visible there. Restart or Cleaning of SIM-Card, Resetting Mobile Settings, Wiping Cache oder Resetting phone didn't work.

Thanks for bricking my phone with this regular update, Samsung.

Same problem here on galaxy A53 (SM-A536U1/DS). US version with a EU simcard inside. After updating to ONE UI 8, it is as if no sim card were inserted. The sim is still working in another phone.
I have reset the phone to factory settings: problem not solved.

I have brought the phone to a repair shop, the guy tried to replace the SIM reader board, problem not solved so this looks like a software problem in the update.

You must in a proper error report.  Demanding that Samsung fix it on this forum, which is a peer-to-peer user help board is not going to get in front of the developers.  They do not read or act upon issues brought up in this forum.

If you got a new phone, restored your backup and then had an update, then likely one of your apps has caused a conflict.  If your new phone did not come with the updated software already installed, you likely should have searched for and done the update prior to restoring your backup.

What you should do now, is factory reset your phone.  This will provide you with a clean copy of the new operating system and UI that is not being hampered by being installed over the old version.  You should check to see that it is functioning properly and install any updates that may be available and *then* restore your backup.  If your issues replicate after restoring your backup, one or more of your apps (or settings) is causing the issue.  Your only option if that's the case would be to do another reset and start completely from scratch, downloading each app and redoing your settings, since it may prove impossible to determine which app or setting is causing the issue.  But, I don't believe that will be necessary once a factory reset is done, making sure you have the new OS prior to restoring your backup.
