Why do we need to download third party apps on our phones?

According to this post we need to download at least three non-Samsung apps in order to use our phones again after the One UI 7 update. I don't want to use third party apps. I know I'm weird, but I don't like putting a bunch of customization apps on my device.

As a software engineer I know these are the riskiest apps we can put on our phones, and it's the greatest when there is a new update. People are desperate to fix things and will install anything to make it better. This is a security vulnerability.

Why is Samsung advertising third party apps instead of fixing the problems with one UI?

What's not a Samsung App Goodlock is Samsung main customization app.

Edit: didn't see the battery widget that's the only thing that's not Samsung.

Okay, so it's not labeled as Samsung in the post, any of them. How could we know without looking them up? And then once we look it up, we are likely to download it anyways, just to try it. That's the security issue

I don't believe people who say they don't download any apps to their phone except what the manufacturer provides.  All downloaded apps not developed by the manufacturer are, by definition, third party.

I didn't say I don't download apps. That would be a silly thing to say

I said that customization apps are a security risk and I don't download them. Of course I use apps. I develop apps!
There are many kinds of apps and there are many reputable app developers. This is a Samsung forum. This is about Samsung apps, not third party apps. It's both unfair competition and a security issue to have third party apps advertised as cosmetic fixes here.

Good Lock and Quick Star are Samsung products that are developed to go beyond what the Android update provided. There is absolutely no reason why you should not download those. The battery widget is a different argument because it is a third party app not a Samsung App.

Thank you. So, clearly I'm taking about the third party apps right, but just as well, these posts don't differentiate so how could anyone know without researching? It's a gamble and once they search and find something that looks like it, they are desperate for any fix and will download it. So why make us use even maybe third party apps? It's a security issue

Google makes changes to Android on a yearly basis. Samsung is bringing back those changes with GoodLock and allowing them to be updated in between software updates.

Google owns Android, not Samsung. If you have an issue with an Android change, discuss with Google instead of blaming Samsung.

You aren't required to download them. Samsung is "offering" them to people who would like to make changes.

Your argument is dismissive and is not relevant, but I'll address it anyways to humor you.

It's actually been argued that one UI 7 is such a departure from Android that it almost warrants being called it's own operating system. Android is open source, it is maintained by Google, but they are not benevolent dictators for life. Anyone can fork Android if they wish. Samsung have been given wide laterality to do whatever they want within the OS, and they have. Samsung is not powerless and these are Samsung devices.

Anyways, this post is about third party apps being recommended on a Samsung forum.
