Hey everyone

My question is if you buy a phone from let's say Amazon and it has android 13 on it. Do you get updates to android 18 or whatever the updated version is at the time? How do you get updates if it's an off brand?

I hope i explained that right. Thank you

You have to be very careful buying from Amazon, they might say a phone is unlocked, what they mean it is carrier unlocked, with the original carriers software still on it. You will have major problems updating the software on it you mist likely will have to bring it to a Samsung authorized service center to have them flash software to turn it into a true unlocked device.

I would personally never buy a phone from a 3rd party vender.

Be careful of buying off Amazon or ebay some of the phones may not be paid off

If you buy from Amazon, make sure it's a NEW phone, not used, second hand or refurbished, and make sure it says factory unlocked and it's a U.S. model phone.  You will only get updates if the phone is eligible for updates.  A phone running Android 13, is no longer eligible for updates.

Black Friday deals are coming up, and you can likely get a good deal on last year's model phones or their own certified refurbished models, direct from Samsung.

I am so tired of the post from those that bought from 3rd party vendors on Amazon wondering why they don't get updates. I know cut to the chase with, who is your provider and a screenshot of service provider software version. So much simpler

I'd rather go samsung. That's what I really want as I've never had anything but that. Just looking at pricing. I can't believe a cell phone costs up to two grand now
