Do you directly unlock phone or use lockscreen?

Hi all! Do you guys use your lockscreen to check on notifications, or directly unlock phone usually? What's the feature of lockscreen that you can't live without?

I use both-lock screen if the phone is turned off right now, and unlocked if the phone is on.
