the reason i just threw my phone in frustration

 so there was this google problem that i originally had on my phone where google play services wasn't updating, therefore my google messages didn't work, which i fixed over time. i got an update, everything went smoothly. now, youtube keeps crashing over and over and over no matter what i do. i just threw my phone out of frustration cuz it really just crashed four times in 10 minutes. i've tried doing all the basic stuff like the cash, restarting the phone, and all the other stuff, it seems like google's going through a midlife crisis right now.

You did all that stuff, plus potentially harmed your device (hope you threw it on something soft), but did you actually contact Google?  I can't say whether it's a universal problem with YouTube, or just a your phone problem, as I do not use YT at all.

through it on carpet. also, google does not really have a contact feature, it's mainly either talking to a chatbot or posting to a form hoping that someone answers which they don't.

Well, hopefully someone here who actually uses YT will come to your aid.

though i must know, what do you use if you don't use youtube?

Use for what? If I come across a video on a website that links to YT, I view it in the browser. I never even once opened the app.

Old fashioned stuff, like TV and streaming apps.

just never found a good series, but that does sound like good decent idea.

Have you tried booting your phone into safe mode to see if you still have the problem while in that mode? Safe mode prohibits any third-party software from running in the background which may be causing your problem.
