Recent Apps, Home, and Back Buttons / swipe gestures not working with UI 6 Software Update.

This says it all. My recent apps button / swipe gesture brings up settings. Nothing else. Even if I hadn't opened it. My Back button / swipe gesture does only what the Home button / swipe gesture does. It will not actually go back to higher level menus, pages, and / or folders.

Please tell me I'm not the only one here!!!! I have restarted and done safe mode. I changed from swipe to buttons and the order of the buttons.  I have tried to manipulate settings to get anything to do differently. Nothing.

What do I do? Help!!!!!

@hELtRskELtR My Fold 5 with UI 6 is working just fine. Have you tried going to the recovery menu and erasing the device cache?

Hello, Welcome to the Community. We understand how frustrating it is when you are unable to navigate your phone and access the apps.

After an update it is recommended to clear the cache partition, as Longhiker suggested. We also suggest repairing apps under the same recovery menu.

To get to recovery mode:
- Turn off phone
- Once off, hold down volume up and power buttons simultaneously
- When Samsung logo appears, release power button BUT KEEP HOLDING VOLUME UP until the recovery menu appears
- Use volume buttons to navigate down to clear cache (NOT CLEAR DATA/ FACTORY RESET)
- Use power button to select.
- Run the repair apps option and your device will restart.

If you continue to see this behavior on the phone, the next step will be a factory reset. You use the steps in the following link, or use the steps for accessing the recovery menu and select Factory reset. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062029/

If resetting the phone does not resolve the matter, we recommend having the phone evaluated by an authorized technician. You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location or by contacting customer support at 1-800-726-7864.
