Can't get my kitchen Bluetooth scale

I can't get my Bluetooth kitchen scale to connect to the phone. The Bluetooth symbol comes up on the scale's display but then goes out while the phone is trying to connect.

You may need to look up the steps for putting the scale in pairing mode, as suggested by @3Fees.
