I've been using this drive for years on a Windows 11 laptop without issues. On my new Win 11 laptop, it doesn't show in Explorer, in device manager or disk management. Oddly, on occasion, when I've been surfing the Internet or working in some app, a SSD window briefly flashes on-screen and then disappears. How can I make this drive recognized on the new computer? Any help will be appreciated.

The fact that it briefly flashes on-screen makes me think of a couple of things to try.

1. Connect it to the laptop via a powered USB hub rather than directly to a computer USB port. If possible have as little as possible also connected to the hub. I've seen cases where insufficient USB power is available on a port, sometimes it will work with a different power source, e.g. the USB hub.

2. If you have any other USB disks, even a thumb drive, check if it works in the same port. If not I would report a failure in the new laptop, specifying which USB port

3. The laptop probably has multiple USB ports, some will be higher speed than others and multiple ports may be connected to the same USB bus. It's not a bad idea to try the T5 in different USB ports on the computer. For example, I have some 4k webcams that require high speed USB ports but if I put both of them in ports on the same USB bus one of them will eventually fail because each port is fast enough for both cameras but the bus isn't. The same cam happen with power from the bus and devices plugged into ports on that bus having a sum power requirement exceeding the bug power limit. So, it can be worth re-plugging all USB devices in different organizations hoping to find one that works.

Hello user0jHcaVu8tW ,

Have your tried different cables? Some USB-C cables are for data only and may not provide enough power.
Is the blue light on the T5 staying ON after the driver disappears?

How old is the drive? The T5 is one of Samsung's older portable SSDs, it might be a good idea to check it with Samsung Magician using a computer that is know to work, if possible.

Worst case, it might be a good idea to check with your computer manufacturer to see what USB drivers they recommend for download, in some computers, its better to use the recommended drive from the computer manufacturer instead of using the windows default USB drivers.
