I woke up for the last few days with the internet on a tear on microphone. Now i'm at my samsung laptop , three sixty four a wowI woke up for the last few days with the internet on a tear on microphone. Now I'm at my Samsung laptop 360 for a while, and I wasn't gonna update.

However, I did like the the new Qualcomm one But without the NPU being able to be written to after purchase and with Windows 11 on it. I Actually, downgraded the 360 to Windows 10 and preferred much better. It's a much nicer experience. My hardware iss not being hammered or my SSD being brutalized with all the background processes constantly.

If I buy a new computer from Samsung, I would like to know that first, the boot loaders not being locked by windows. That Windows is not the primary OS. I can choose the OS I like, and I'm not answering 25 interrogations screens just to use a laptop, I might pay over $2000 for. Did anybody get the Qualcomm? And how's the experience?

Nothing you said above makes any sense.  But, from what I can gather, you want to know that if you buy a new  Samsung computer, you will will be able to load an alternative operating system on it. What OS? Linux, a downgrade to Windows 10?    I don't know what you are getting at with  your title about adding drivers to the BIOS, as all Windows computers come with the proper drivers for the hardware components.  Any other drivers can be downloaded from the appropriate source.  However, if you don't want to run Windows on your computer, buy a computer that does not come with Windows.

I didn't buy a Windows computer. I bought Samsung hardware. I paid cash, so I own the hardware. Windows is like getting stock cabinets in a new house or builders' grade countertops. Once the warranty is over and the hardware is solid, you move into real computing. Those drivers can go into bios. I already have a triple boot, but I can do a quadruple boot, and none have to be Windows. The OSes are users choice for their hardware. I owe Microsoft nothing, not even a relationship.

Drivers for any component for any operating system can be downloaded from the appropriate sources. There is no need to embed them in the bios. You actually did buy a Windows computer - you bought a Samsung computer with a Windows OS, as such, the drivers are embedded in the OS. If you switch operating systems, you will have to get drivers compatible with that OS. That is the way computing works. If you want a computer with a specific operating system, you either buy one with that system, build your own like we used to do in the 20th century, get one with no OS and install your own, or wipe the computer and install the system you want, along with the appropriate drivers.

Samsung supples the proper drivers for the OS is shipped the computer with. They are not obligated to do more than that. There may be some manufacturers out there that embed drivers on the MB for other operating systems, but I don't know of any. Generally speaking all computer manufactures supply drivers for the OS the ship with.

Dear Fellow User,

It's okay to want a lower Operating System than what is offered with the device you purchased. The only issue is that certain hardware features might not function currently or  be available for use once you downgrade.

When Laptops are made the hardware and software have been optimised to perform at its best for the specific operating system. It will work, but using an unsupported operating system also has its downside, you will leave your self open to vulnerabilities that the latest operating system patched.

If it is a risk you are willing to take, go ahead Samsung I'm sure will provide you support regardless of your choice.

A Fellow User like you,

M

I'm running a triple boot system. I did downgrade Windows 11. Samsung laptops are built for power. It runs better in Linux. We used to have 4 choices with Dex and Android. No slowdown or compromise of power. Without Windows and the drivers in bios, we could do so much more.

Then buy a computer running Linux.  As I recall, it is up to the component manufacturer to supply drivers for their hardware for different operating systems.  Samsung does not manufacture its own components, they assemble them into a working device.  If they do manufacture any of the components they put in, then they should supply drivers for other OSs.  They are not obligated to embed them in the motherboard, but they can likely be downloaded from their website.  You are willing to go through the trouble of creating a triple boot system, downgrading an operating system, installing an additional OS, but it's too inconvenient to download drivers from a website?  Try to make sense.
