My screen times out after a few seconds whenever I am on a call, even though the timeout is set to 1 minute or longer. Once it times out, I MUST hit the power button to awaken the screen.
Double tapping the screen will not wake it while on a call, but does work when not on a call.

Galaxy A12

Thanks

Adjust in display settings the time out touching the screen before it times out helps

There is no problem with the screen timeout, setting the screen timeout, or screen-tapping UNLESS I'm on a call.

Screen timeout with phone use has nothing to do with normal screen timeout. It is a fixed timeout and cannot be adjusted. The only thing you can do is either keep the phone in the mini window and keep using other apps while on your call, tap the screen when it starts to fade to keep it alive, or set a routine to keep your phone unlocked during a phone call so that you can double tap without having to enter your password. Other than having to use the dialpad to navigate a voice menu, why do you need to have the screen on during a call?

yes, its having to use the dialpad.

It seems like there must be something wrong. This is not normal behavior. This phone actually used to NOT time out while on the phone, but at some point that all changed. So I don't know what caused it.

It is normal behavior and the subject of many complaints. It's this way because both the screen and the phone use a lot of battery. If your screen didn't time out *that* was the glitch, or you were using other apps while on the phone. Do a searc of this site and you will see it has been discussed at great length.
