My washing machine model WF42H5200AP/A2 releases the fabric softener into the drum as soon as the wash cycle starts instead of waiting for the rinse cycle to start.

Hello and thank you for reaching out with regard to the fabric softener dispensing at the start of your wash cycle, it will be our pleasure to look into this matter further. We can definitely understand the frustration this can cause and would like to recommend a few steps to assist.

1. When adding fabric softener in the designated section, do not exceed the MAX fill line.

2. Ensure the detergent drawer is clean and free of residue. If residue is left in the drawer, it can mix with the additive you are adding and simulate going over the MAX line, causing the draining you're reporting.

If further assistance is still needed, please proceed to steps 3 and 4.

3. Level the washer, improper alignment of the washer can cause the detergent drawer to not be aligned either, which may result in a tilt which causes the additives to go over the MAX line and drain immediately after you close the drawer.

4.  If the softener is still draining immediately, there may be some defect in the detergent drawer and you can look into replacing the detergent drawer

You can go online for replacement part options here- https://samsungparts.com/ or send a private message by selecting any moderator and clicking on the chat option with your full model and serial number, where we would love to assist you further with that aspect if needed.

Sounds like a classic dispenser glitch! When fabric softener releases too early, itā€™s usually a clog or gunk build-up in the dispenser tray, making it dump out at the wrong time. Try taking out the tray, giving it a good scrub (especially around the softener section), and see if that helps. If itā€™s still happening, the dispenser valve might be faulty.
