My fiancée tablet, a S7 T870, is in a loop(?), stuck on jogging from the unlock screen, to restarting after about 5-7 seconds. When the tablet is on, it's on the unlock screen, which only shows the unlock pattern dots, it won't show the pattern as it's being drawn, we then hit the physical power button, which brings up the Power Off/ Restart (touchscreen) Buttons.
Trying either, mind you the touchscreen responds, forces us to the pattern unlock screen, which then goes back to acting like the pattern isn't being drawn and then the tablet probably within 5 to 7 seconds, restarts yet again.
This started Saturday, after she had noticed that her tablet need to be updated, only to check in her settings to find that the tablet was already up to date. It then said she needed to update Google play services, which she did. Within a few hours, the tablet shut down and the started this continuous (it actually stopped after a few times, but then jumped back into the loop, when we'd pick the tablet back up and try the power button again), while she was playing one of her game spps. Please lmk if there's anything we can do, outside of getting into maintenance mode and doing a hard reset. My fiancee has extreme panic and anxiety disorder and is beside herself over this.

forced restart can resolve temporary software glitches.

Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously.

Continue holding both buttons for about 10 seconds, even if you see the Samsung logo.

Release the buttons once the device restarts.
Boot into Recovery Mode and Factory Reset

If a forced restart doesn't work, a factory reset can solve more persistent software issues.

Turn off the tablet.

Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time.

Release the buttons when you see the recovery mode screen.

Use the volume buttons to navigate to and select "wipe data/factory reset".

Use the power button to confirm the action.

Once the reset is complete, select "reboot system now" to restart the device
Smart Switch Emergency Recovery

If the device still won't start, you can use the Smart Switch software on a computer.

Download and install Samsung Smart Switch on your PC.

Connect your tablet to the computer.

Use the emergency recovery tool within Smart Switch to restore the device's software.

Okay, so I just want to clarify, and this is going to be a stupid question, but it's also not my device, a factory reset is the only way to get it up and running again, correct?

Cool, yes, forced restart, I just reread that, lol.. this tends to happen sometimes. Thank you for your clear, matter of fact, non-judgmental response. I appreciate it
