Close all button will not close all apps, just sends me to home screen

After the One UI 8.0 (Android 16) update. Close All button fails to close any apps and just sends me to home screen. Has anyone had this problem and suggest a fix?

I may have a temporary fix for you.

Go to Settings/Modes & Routines/+/If: Start a routine manually/Then: Recents-Navigation button actions/Then: Ask Bixby-type in 'close all apps'/Save.

Then long press on your home screen ( I assume a tablet works the same as a phone) select widgets/ Modes & Routines/ select a single routine and add it to your home screen. It should connect to the manually created routine you just created. It may not work if you have just a few apps in Recent Apps. Hope this helps you. It works on my phone. If there is something more in the system apps causing the issue it may not work for you.

Ill try to work this out, the routine I manually created didn't apply to the widget but Ill try it again. I did find another issue in the meantime that is further complicating things. Trying to close one side of a split screen sends me to the lock screen, so frustrating! I'm trying to get this fixed so my husband won't go buy an iPad that I don't want.

That worked! I'm not a fan of Bixby and this solution but I understand it is temporary as you said so thank you again. I can use it until a solution is found

Try this, open the manual routine you created. At the bottom click on 'more' then , 'add as widget ' then ' add to home screen '.

I see that you replied to me that it worked which I see in my NotiStar notifications but I don't see it here. Maybe because I replied to myself.

I'd also like to add, whilst trying to find a resolution to the 'close all' I've also found that the < button sends me to the home screen as well, it doesn't go back. Also, when trying to close something whilst in split screen, it sends me to the lock screen. Since my entire day consists of using my tablet, I'm in desperate need of answers.

This probably won't work but go to Settings/display/navigation bar and switch from buttons to gestures then back and see if the back button works.

I might be able to come up with another temporary fix.
