Typically, insurance is tied to the device, not the phone number. If your device was stolen, you should be able to file a claim if you have insurance for it. I'd recommend reaching out to T-Mobile's customer service again for clarification or to escalate the issue. Also, check your insurance policy details to understand what is covered.
