I change my minimum width about 3 times a day everyday on my Samsung phones and tablets and I would love to see a slider bar that updates the width value instantly for preview. The icons and fonts also need to be updated for it. It's terrible to have to increase the scale of the font in display every time and it doesn't wrap correctly.

It's a developer option (which most people won't ever see) with the ability to set discrete values for app testing. I highly doubt Samsung is interested in making a custom slider for one setting that already has granular control.

Hi there! 😊

The **Minimum Width** setting in Developer Options is a powerful way to customize how your Samsung phone’s interface looks and feels. It lets you adjust the “dp” (density-independent pixels) value that Android uses to scale everything on the screen.

- **Higher values** (like 500 or more) make everything smaller, so you can fit more content on the screen—great if you want a more compact, tablet-like look.
- **Lower values** (like 320–360) make everything bigger, which can help with readability and accessibility.

Most Samsung phones have a default minimum width between **360 dp and 411 dp**. The lowest you can usually set is **320 dp**—going below that isn’t recommended because it can make the interface oversized or even hard to use. There’s not really a strict upper limit, but if you set it too high, some apps might not display correctly.

**How to change it:**
Go to Settings > About Phone > Software Information, tap “Build Number” seven times to unlock Developer Options. Then go to Settings > Developer Options > Minimum Width, and enter your preferred value. The changes take effect right away!

Just a tip: Always remember your original value before changing it, so you can easily go back if you need to. 😊

Why would you change it so often?
I have mine set to 350, old eyes.

It's a fantastic dev option. If they are going to make use pay $1500 for phones that are Linux-based arm PCs then they should invest more in satisfying their high-end users rather than grandma who can't even figure out what a PDF is.

Plus to have it as an option that auto-scales in the notifications bar would increase its overall value.

I highly doubt that they would not want such a useful feature. It turns most apps into PC app by its scaleable functions, rather than reducing them.

Why would they do this for the less than 1% of users who turn on DO?

As for the status bar auto scaling that would be good for those that can't see anything in the status bar.
