That last Samsung update (9-01-25) messed up the receiving pictures in a text function on my phone. The picture doesn't always come through and it will "ask" you to download it and never comes through. I have to ask the sender to resend the picture.

Which update?  The August 1, security  update?  To my knowledge, there were no other updates in September.  Which messaging app are you using?  If you are using Samsung Messages, go to the messages settings, select other settings, then select multimedia messages and make sure "download automatically" is on.  If you are using Google Messages, go to messages settings, select advanced, and make sure "auto download MMS" is on.  Sometimes settings get turned off with updates.

Not sure if you are having the same issue based on your description, but I recently had an issue where my Google Messages RCS would not verify and I could only use SMS/MMS.

I resolved the issue by going to the Google Messages page in the Play Store, unistalling updates, and then updating the app again.

Additionally, you can go into Gmessage settings and enable "Auto Resend as text," so that your messages will automatically fall back on SMS/MMS when RCS fails and you won't have to manually resend/retry.

You just have to go inside your settings and go inside your settings when you're after you open up your text message you hit the box I'm going to show you all of your different texts to all the different people go to settings in there and hit download automatically and it will download it for you and I have it mindset for my default to be on text message SMS and not chat that makes a difference when you have it on chat you have to download your messages when you have it on SMS and it downloads the picture automatically for you that's sent to you give it a shot I think you'll like it but you go to your settings after you're already in your text message you hit your message or text and then hit the three dots at the top and go to that setting let me know if it works take care

If you are using Samsung messages, switch.  It is no longer being fully supported and it's being phased out. With each update, less features will work.

You need to switch to Google Messages and turn on RCS chats, and that will bring back your typing indicators, read receipts.

When you want Samsung to fix anything, you must put in an error report.  As this is a peer to peer user help forum, we can only give you workarounds and advice, we can't fix anything and the Samsung developers are not reading here.
