PROBLEM WITH ONE UI 7

I have muscle memory to swipe down twice and tap a certain part of the screen to change my brightness, but instead I end up clicking on an app notification I did not want to click on. Alsp, I use Good Lock so my apps show in the way a tablet normally shows them when I go to my recents menu, but the 4 recent app icons at the bottom are gone. If I disable it, they are back. This is stupid because I want to be able to see the suggested apps because Samsung's learning system was actually good and about 80% of the time the next app I want to use is right there. Also, it broke my Sim card when I updated, now I can't make calls or texts, but somehow mobile data works. I also don't like the extra bouncing in one UI 7. Fix the UI please, or I'm downgrading to Apple.

@Pi-3-14 You can switch the swipe down from the top to act like it did before.

  1. Swipe down on the right side of the screen.
  2. Click the pencil icon
  3. Click the Panel settings button in upper left
  4. Click Together

In addition to what @LongHiker said about putting the panels back together, you can also rearrange the controls in the quick panel. Unfortunately, some genius put the volume control and brightness control as a unit, so you will have to move it as a unit.

What "extra bouncing" are you referring to?  I have nothing that resembles a bounce.  Lastly, since carriers tweak the update before rolling it out to their customers, anything that happened with your SIM card would be an issue for them to fix.  Have you contacted your carrier?  If you have an eSIM, they can re-provision it, if you have a SIM card, they can replace it.  It may be as simple a fix as resetting the mobile network. All things calling related, unless you detect a defect in the mobile antenna by doing a diagnostic, is a carrier issue.  It is unlikely that a *software* update damaged your SIM card or your antenna.

In Good Lock, you can use home up/task changer to change the layout of the recent apps scroll and turn on the slider for "mini mode" which will give you those icons back.  If it's off, you will not see them, which is why they come back if you turn Home Up off.  If it's the "recommended* app icons you are looking for, you can turn those on by opening the task changer (aka the recent apps screen), tapping the dot menu, selecting settings and turning on "recommended apps".

Turning on mini mode didn't fix anything. It just made the apps smaller without showing the icons at the bottom. 😢
Also, idk what's going on with the Sim card, I tried to make a call and it didn't work. After a reboot it works again.
Btw, after reading more I was able to turn back on recommended apps. That's great because usually when I'm using ~5-6 apps it can pick up on the next one I will open. The bouncing is fixed when I changed the animations and replaced them with the old ones. Btw, do you have a way to move the search bars from the bottom back to the top? Tysm

Sorry, the search bars are fixed to where they are. Maybe they'll change it someday. I got used to it being on the bottom, so it doesn't bother me and I barely see it anymore.

Sometimes you just have to a simple reboot to fix some problems.  This should always be the first step in troubleshooting.  Also there are recommended practices that should be performed after each update to keep things running smoothly..

Is recent apps broken for you as well? I got auto updates to one ui 7 last night and recent apps and home buttons have both disappeared, and when I switch to gestures, the gestures (swipe from middle bottom) don't do anything. I even tried downloading and using good lock/navstar to see if I can restore functionality and that didn't work either

Have you done something as simple as just restarting the phone?  Have you followed the best practices after an update by clearing your phone's cache?  https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/Best-Practices-After-an-Update/ba-p/3200871

Yep--restarted phone, reset cache, the whole nine yards....but it's ok I already figured it out. I just needed to switch from using the lock screen pin to a lock screen password. This is very counterintuitive because I didn't get any warning messages about this...but here we are
