If you didn't figure out how to turn it off yet, you press the down volume and power buttons together and hold, and once you do that there's an option to change the side button action and you can put it back to normal that way

It's not functionally pretty much as it was, it's less efficient and less user friendly. It's harder for people with sight issues to use their phone now. It's like some teen who never has to use this phone himself came up with some changes he thinks are great. Also, the new designs of the app pictograms are really bad. Messy. And rearranging the apps, that's a hard no, especially if you do it without a warning. At least give people a chance to save a picture of their current layout. And do not install apps without permission. Google's AI is really bad; I have no idea what's fed into it, but I've seen mistakes and outright lies come out of it. Don't force that [Samsung bleeped out a non-curse word that describes something valueless and useless] on your users.

You can make it "functionally pretty".

You don't like the icons? Change them with an icon pack. It seems the people most affected by the icon/screen changes were those without a theme or icon pack already applied. If their wallpaper was gone, it was likely a wallpaper no longer available - choose another one.

Don't like the separation of the notification and quick panels? Put them back together.

Don't like that some of the indicator icons no longer show? Unfortunately, at the moment there is no fix for that. Perhaps Good Lock will update Quick Star. You can still see your BT indicator and alarm indicator by pulling down the top of the screen. Don't like the new battery indicator? Turn it off and find a widget that will give you the battery status at a glance.

Really hate that the notification indicators are limited to three icons? There are many ways to work around that and have your really important notifications be available at a glance.

Don't like that your location is being accessed all the time? Guess what? It always was, now you are just being informed of it. If you don't like the location indicator always showing on the status bar, turn it off. You will still see the green location indicator when you pull down the quick panel notifying you that the location services are in use, much the same way you get the green indicator when the camera or mic is in use. The location services uses very minimal battery, since it only pings momentarily when in use. I challenge you to find location services in your battery use statistics. Not all the apps that use notification services ping at the same time, and apps that haver permission to use location all the time, do not continuously ping.

Battery drain? Check your battery usage statistics and see which apps are the culprits and then either put them to sleep or change the battery optimization settings for those apps. Check to make sure that some apps haven't "woken up" after the update that you had previously put to sleep.

Don't like anything about the update? Change brands. See how you like another manufacturer. Do not forget that this is, before anything, an Android update, so all Android phones running the new version will look much the same way, without the customization options that Samsung's UI offers.

I agree 100%. I'm currently looking for an Android device that doesn't use One UI at all. And I have no intention of going back to Samsung unless they revert most if not all the changes brought in with One UI 7

I am BEYOND DISGUSTED with this company! I realize that in places like Korea the government has a right to tell the people what to do, (which is why Samsung SUCKS), but in America you don't get to tell me that I have to accept these GARBAGE UPDATES. I cannot wait until Samsung is a small, failed company. The headline will read: "Samsung: another example of incompetent corporate 'leadership' and a lack of business ethics -- why dictators make terrible CEOs".

My S-22 Ultra was working fine. I just got used to the settings which were forced on me by the a**holes at Samsung last time, and now those lowlifes just **bleep** my phone up all over again. Why has there not been a crowdfunding effort to raise money to sue Samsung for billions--the cost of refunding the victims who have experienced loss as a result of Samsung stupidity and incompetence?

I will NEVER buy another Samsung product....phones or anything else. GO TO **bleep** Samsung.

Gary, this is not helpful. I have an s22 and used the 'pencil' advice, and nothing changed. My home screen still has holes in it and the UI is **bleep**. I know you're trying to help, but this did not work.

Well the pencil is to combine the navigation bar back to 1 swipe down instead of 2 swipes and wonโ€™t do anything to your Home Screen

I shouldn't have to move stuff BACK to how I had it. The audacity it takes to make an update that changes even the fundamental layout of how my apps were arranged is enough to enrage me. There should have been an option for alot of the features "Do you want to opt in to these changes? Yes or no". It should not nor should ever be, "we made changes to your layout, if you want it back to how it was, change these setting and YOU have to move them yourself even though we moved them in the first place"
