Samsung Apps and ServicesFrustrated with One UI 7.0 / Android 15 โ Looking to Downgrade or Fix Issues
Hi everyone,
I recently updated my Galaxy S23 (model S911U) to One UI 7.0 / Android 15, build S911USQU6DYD9, and Iโm really unhappy with the experience so far.
Since the update:
The phone feels sluggish, with delayed animations and occasional app crashes.
Battery life has dropped significantly.
Some settings and UI elements I relied on seem moved or removed.
The search bar placement at the bottom is extremely annoyingโwhy change something that wasnโt broken?
Iโm hoping to get help with the following:
1. Is there a safe and official way to downgrade back to One UI 6.1 / Android 14 (no root)?
2. Can I restore a backup made through Samsung Smart Switch from before the update to bring back old settings/layout?
3. Are there any workarounds or settings to restore the old search bar position or UI behavior?
4. Has Samsung acknowledged any of these issues, and is a fix or patch on the way?
This update has really impacted how I use my device, and Iโd appreciate any guidance or solutions the community can share.
Thank you in advance!

Samsung Apps and ServicesSorry you donโt like the update
1. They are no way to downgrade the OS back to 6.1
2. The Search Bar cant be relocated back to the top
I would recommend wiping the cache partition to see if that helps
- Turn off your phone: Make sure your S23 is completely off.
- Enter Recovery Mode: Simultaneously press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons.
- Navigate to Wipe Cache Partition: Use the Volume Down button to navigate the Recovery menu and highlight "Wipe cache partition".
- Select Wipe Cache Partition: Press the Power button to select the option.
- Confirm the Action: You'll be asked to confirm, so use the Volume Down button to select "Yes" and then press the Power button.
- Reboot the System: After the cache wipe is complete, "Reboot system now" will be highlighted. Press the Power button to restart your phone.

Samsung Apps and ServicesThis is not an acceptable answer. All software has the capability to rollback, or at the very least wipe/reinstall. Samsung should provide access to the old apk's for this. Even unsupported, from a quick search there are more than enough people unhappy with the ui alterations. They are cartoonish, completely unnecessary changes. Even if I have to complete wipe and reinstall everything, that would be better than dealing with it.
Also, the forced app installs (looking a bixby once again and now Gemini) and the every update games. This needs to stop, I don't want Samsung ai bs on my phone popping up all the time.

Samsung Apps and Services1. No, you cannot go back officially. Which you probably could do is factory reset your phone, go to a developer website online and see if you can find the APK pak for Android 14.
2. See number one above!
3. I would suggest investing some time in researching and possibly implementing some of the apps in the "Good Lock" module. It would take too long to try to explain everything here so I would suggest going to YouTube and searching for Good Lock One UI 7.

Samsung Apps and ServicesIs there anyway to fix it?
2.Also on the lock screen my notifications are so tiny and at the top left. Can I get them in the middle again? I can't see them.
3. When I am on a phone call or a message I use to swipe down and be able to mute/put a call on speaker. But instead it keeps bring the other apps like flashlight or brightness. Anyway I can undo that horrible upgrade?

Samsung Apps and ServicesI personally like to completely turn off the phone to take a digital break, but they took away the ability to simply use the power button to do that. You now have to see Gemini when you push the power button. It's now a 2 step process rather than a simple one step to turn off the phone. Not a big deal, but annoying and unnecessary like many of the "new and improved features". Find another way to force Gemini on me.
