Is the Samsung galaxy store shutting down?

I thought the Samsung galaxy store was supposed to be closing down, or transitioning to just using google play store. Any word if that's going to be the case still.

Thank you. I just heard that in here say that it could be shutting down and just sticking with Play Store, which would actually kind of be easier. Plus not to mention, i'm getting a little tired of their pop up ads.

The Galaxy store is for Samsung apps, or Samsung approved apps for Samsung phones. The Play store is for all Android apps for any Android device.

the galaxy store will always exist and is never going anywhere. some apps are galaxy specific and not available on gplay like expert raw or good guardians agent or english tts voice 3 or spanish language pack. many regions ban google support and the galaxy store is all they have

What was your source? It needs to be corrected.

Not really a source, just some talk I heard. I understand the source code specifications but would be easier with just one location for all updates.

Actually, it would not be easier, as the Galaxy store makes it much easier to find Samsung specific apps.  You know if  you find it  in the Galaxy store it will be compatible with your device, as you won't normally see apps that are not compatible.

It went thru a maintenance i believe on 18th if I recall date during which times it may not function in all areas
