QLED and The Frame TVs

In the last few weeks, Samsung updated the OS to the Frame TV and a function that I regularly used is no longer available. I'm writing in hope that someone can suggest a workaround (or if Samsung engineers read this, to bring the function back).

I have an Apple TV 4K media streamer for my Frame 55" 2022 TV. I'm assuming that other media streamers such as Chromecast, Roku, etc. would have a similar behavior that I am getting now post-OS update.

Prior to the update, I would be watching TV using the Apple TV 4K steamer, conclude for the evening, power off the streamer with the Siri remote, and the Frame would instantly go into the Art Mode and display artwork for 30 minutes (my settings) before the Frame would go to sleep. Post upgrade, I power off the streamer (Apple tells me the streamer goes to sleep, not powering off), but instead of the Frame displaying artwork, it is searching for a media source:

My only recourse now is to use the Samsung remote and manually navigate to the Art Mode and select the artwork, a multi-step process.

Is anyone else who is using a streamer experiencing this, and do you have a workaround?

Thanks,
David

People on here are referring to 1602.x versions. All I see is a 1602. Can someone explain these sub versions and why I’m not seeing them on the OTA.

Also, I currently have the 1602 and it has not fixed the issues.

Version 1602.3 is the latest for my version. I can't load it with USB and no OTA. So basically the Frame TV is back to what works best since these updates. Turned OFF. I only turn it on if I'm there in the room to watch it fail over and over again and I manually switch it back to Art Mode. Then when were not in the room of going to bed. It's TURNED OFF. Basically off most of the day and definitely at night. It's because a useless . A blank black screen on the wall. Which is not why we bought it. We wanted ART on the wall when not in use. Instead its TURNED OFF most of day and all night.

This is a US community, so people in Australia, no offense, but can y'all go post in your community? I don't mean that disrespectfully at all, but when we have other users from other countries providing information, this information is sometimes very inaccurate. International units have certain features and different regional specifications. So, you guys' firmware versions will be different from US versions sometimes, and I think that's what is confusing some users in the thread.

For those of you having issues with updating via USB check out this article, make sure your USB doesn't have any other content asides from the firmware on it, or the television will not read it. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062224/

Make sure you're typing in your model code on samsung.com and you're looking at the right firmware version. There may be different frame television series on different firmware versions.

I've tried every combination to get the USB to update. It simply does not work for my model. It has updated from the FTP download before. When using the one from Samsung Support site, it just doesn't work. US Version  QN65LS03BAFXZA

Leo, Australians really are THE problem, aren’t they. It’s so hard to keep up with version numbers, and regions. Sometimes the spelling is different. I don’t know how you keep it all straight in there. It’s tough. It’s the EU people that I worry out, with their progressive ideas and what-not.

I only just realised “US” was spelled “us”. Did you know that Leo. Blew my mind. Wow.

Good news : Version 1602.2 has been officially released for EU versions as well this morning, and after upgrade, problem solved for me. CEC finally works again as it used to.

Direct link for EU versions (85" for me) for those interested :

This is the US community support. Perhaps you need to post these links for those in the UK and FR.

*UPDATE*

Hello, Everyone!

Please try the following:
- Delete the Frame TV from the Smart Things app
- Update your firmware to the latest version - Once the update is completed, add the frame TV back to the smart things application.

If you don’t have your frame set up with the Smart Things app, please just make sure that your software is completely up to date, then we recommend a factory reset. (Please note if your television is calibrated, the settings may be lost during this step.) https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00077524/

If the symptoms persist after the above steps,  it may be the external source that you have connected that is causing the symptoms to appear. We recommend, that you please try turning off the CEC & Anynet+ options.

Press the Menu button and navigate to Settings, followed by System. Select HDMI-CEC and set Device Auto Power, Device Power, and TV Auto Power to Off. Also, there may be options to do this in the device itself. Like with the PS5, you would do this: Turn on your PS5, then select the Settings cog from the top-right corner. From there, go to Settings > System > HDMI.

If the symptoms persist after turning off these options, the last and final step would be to purchase a CEC Blocker adapter. You can purchase these third-party devices from any electronics store such as Best Buy, Amazon, etc. This adapter will prevent and cut off the CEC options securely.

From there the symptoms should be resolved, if you’re still having issues after this however we recommend having a repair set up with your local repair service center, you can set that up here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service

This is also happening to our 65" Frame TV / ATV for many weeks.

It is unclear what you mean by 'delete frame TV from Smart things app'

  •  I dont' have the smartthings app installed on my iphone/ATV.
  • There is a smartThings app on the Frame TV but that does not have the Frame TV (that would be peculiar anwyay).

The software updater on the TV states the most recent firmware is installed.

CEC continues to be broken on the TV.

  Thank you

How did you initally set up your Art things? I thought you needed to have the smart things application in order to set up the art mode.

As for the CEC issues, I recommend disabling Anynet+ setting Menu > Connection > External Device

Also turn off CEC options on the connected device. See if that works for you
