Hi everyone! Thought I would give it a try to see if I can find any solutions here.
I bought the G81SF 32 inch back when it came out and was super stoked about it. Been using it daily every since and I've only got one particular issue that has been starting to bug me a ton.
At random times, sometimes very often but sometimes just once or twice a day, the screen would go black for 1-3 seconds, then it would come on again like nothing happened. When the screen comes on again, you can see the current port being used (in my case, Displayport) in the top left corner, just as if you were to change the input manually using the joystick. This happens just when using the screen, it doesn't matter if I am gaming, watching content or just letting the PC be idle.
I have posted about the same problem on Reddit (link to the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/1m8aumv/random_black_screen_for_a_few_seconds_with/) where I've seen one or two other people with the same issue, with only one who managed to fix the problem. He had to reinstall the GPU drivers for his NVIDIA graphics card and turn off HDR and G-Sync, but this hasn't helped me at all.
I've tried different cables (both completely new and premium ones, as well as the ones that followed the monitor when I bought it), gone over to HDMI, reset the screen settings, updated my drivers for the GPU and reinstalled them, and I've even gone as far as reinstalling my whole PC without any luck.
The issue seems to not happen on console, though I may recall one time on PS5 that the issue happened. I am not 100% sure though.
I am hoping hear if anyone else with the same model has had these issues and if there is any fixes for it? I also cannot seem to find any firmware updates for the monitor, which is a huge bummer as I though that would maybe be the problem. If a Samsung support member also has any ideas, I would happily appreciate some input! 🙂
@Samsungyou guys need to fix this issue. It is happening to everyone and on all reviews of the product. screen goes black for 2-3 seconds and comes back randomly. "Only issue: sometimes the screen goes black for like 2-3 seconds. Everything else works fine though, so I think it's probably my cable or GPU, not the monitor." - Random Best Buy review. We are using this monitor in the enterprise so this must be fixed.
