My monitor "S49CG93*S"
Monitor loads with desktop and after a short time, blinks off then on/ There is a pattern to this. I found that I could be typing a sentence, and if I continue typing with monitor blinks off, what I type is there.
The - dash represents seconds - is one second of on/off. In the top left corner a small notice blinks on that has a image of a monitor and word "HDMI1" in it. I believe that icon is related. HDMI1?
THE TEST.
On -
Off - - - ON
ON - - - - - - - - Off
Off - - - - - - - - ON and repeats.
ON - Off
Off - ON
ON - - - - - - - - Off
Off - - - - - - - - ON
ON - Off
Off - ON
All cables have been tried and passed.
Reboots are Boot, not Restart before each try.
I moved the monitor and replaced it with another Samsung and it worked fine - no blinking out.
I put the new monitor back and watched it fail. Again.
Has anyone else had this issue with same or with similar monitor?
More details.
The monitor is tied to a Alienware Aurora ACT 1250 with factory update to a Nvidia RTX 5080 and Intel i9 Ultra.
I bought this on Sept 26, 2025. Opened the box yesterday.
Too, note please that I played Far Cry 4 A first look on a . Everything looks like someone flattened them, circles look oval, squares look rectangle and so on. I didn't expect it look like that.

Monitors and MemoryThat sounds like an HDMI signal drop issue. Since your other monitor works fine, it’s likely the Samsung’s HDMI port or firmware. Try switching to a different HDMI port or cable type (DisplayPort if possible), disable “Auto Source Switch” in settings, and update the monitor firmware — that usually fixes the blinking and “HDMI1” popup.

Thanks @thismarkjohnson
I discovered a further oddity. In between blinks off, I eventually loaded Far Cry 4. Once loaded, the monitor stopped blinking.
When I quit to desktop, the blinking blinking returned.
Though probably not, Dell offered to log in and during a 2 hours window, will check the desktop side of things. It's a very very long shot but it's my only hope of getting use out this expensive monitor.
I have followed the link that was sitting near the top of this topic/subject that appears to be a edit of my OP
MODEL # S49CG9325NXZA.
I bought it locally @ Staples - I picked it up at their store.
I received a email from Samsung telling me I received a reply. They must mean your reply.
Quote @thismarkjohnson "Try switching to a different HDMI port or cable type (DisplayPort if possible), disable “Auto Source Switch” in settings, and update the monitor firmware — that usually fixes the blinking and “HDMI1” popup." unquote.
This isn't a usually I am afraid; that did not work. You also said "..disable "Auto Source Switch" in settings".
Whose settings? There are Microsoft, Google, Samsung...?
It is EXTREMELY difficult to click in between blink-off and click again, and again when there is a blink-on. One needs to click away the minutes and hours trying to navigate through random On - Off repeat.
Where, under whose settings do I disable "Auto Source Switch"?
I's rather not be tweaking settings and what aver else. I'd rather get what I paid for.
Sorry if I sound cross, but I think my chance to return this to the store ends very soon. I fear it is becoming a giant paper weight.
When submitting this, I get the error "An Unexpected Error has occurred." something about invalid HTML code. The reCaptcha expired. Wow. Can anything get any worse.

Monitors and MemoryI gather there is no solution. Returns to store expired while monitor sat in a box.
Thanks to anyone that read.
