LED and OLED TVs
Hi everyone,
I’m posting because after updating my Samsung S90D to firmware 2111, I’m experiencing severe HDR issues that were not present before the update. I want to document them clearly so other users and Samsung can verify.
What’s happening
- HDR appears washed out / desaturated, especially in YouTube HDR videos.
- Game Mode HDR is noticeably nerfed — highlights are dimmer, contrast is reduced, black levels look lifted and showing grids
- Colors in dark scenes look flat compared to pre-2111.
- Switching Picture Modes or resetting doesn’t fix it.
What I’ve tried
- Full picture settings reset
- Reinstalling YouTube app
- Switching between Filmmaker, Movie, and Standard
- Toggling Game HDR Basic vs. Advanced
- HDMI input reset
None of these restore the previous HDR quality.
Can Samsung moderators please confirm whether Firmware 2111 introduced an HDR change and whether this can be addressed?
A rollback option or hotfix would help a lot of us who noticed the downgrade immediately.
Anyone else on 2111 seeing the same washed-out HDR?
