For the past 2 days, I've been getting an EXTREMELY annoying popup notification with small ding sound. This pops up about every 2 hours and disappears in 5 seconds. Impossible and just plain silly to not be able to read it. It does say something about thanks for being a customer and that smart hub collects data in some kind of way and that you can mess with settings in settings. I have never been able to read it as it leaves so fast. I just disconnected it from my network prior to posting this. Anyone knows what this is and most importantly, how to stop it?
I only hope that disconnecting it from my network will stop these messages but only thing I can find under privacy settings want me to agree to a bunch of check marks. I clicked none of them as I do not agree with their TOS for something that I rarely use. This TV is strictly as a monitor and have no antenna connected. I could completely disable smart hub as I may just have by disconnecting the network connection.
UPDATE EDIT: Taking the TV offline seemed to have fixed the issue but the loss of IP remote control via watch and home assistance is an annoying too. My plan is to Block the TV's mac address from any WAN (Wide Area Network) access via my router. I'll put it back on the network so that my home assistance setup still has access to it so I'll still have my remote control features but the TV and Samsung has no access to and can't make changes to my purchased and owned property. The TV is used as a monitor like I said so a dumb tv will be fine if I can't get it to work how I mentioned. I'll update if anyone even cares about that route.
UPDATE 2: I have since reconnected my TV back to the network and instantly saw the warning again. I then blocked WAN access of the TV via my router but it is connected to my LAN only. I then disconnected my phone offline to test and still have access to my Home Assistant features to the TV online as that is via a encrypted DDNS running through my own micro PC setup along with every other former cloud device I own. All controlled by me. Now Samsung can't break what they can't connect to.
QN95B here, I get the popup but without any OK or close button. It just appears and disappears before I can finish reading it. Happens on all inputs, even HDMI
I turned it off! On the smart hub, arrow over to the left, then scroll/arrow down to connected devices or settings. Do NOT click on anything. You will see a notification bell. Arrow over to the bell and click once on it. A little box will pop up in upper right corner. It might say no new notifications but arrow up to the gear icon above the box and click on it. A screen will pop open. You can then uncheck the type of notifications you don't want, then click okay. You may have to turn the TV off (I had to do that.) and wait 30 seconds, turn TV back on and the annoying notification will be gone. I have the QN series but it should work pretty much the same on all with a smart hub.
I tried this and so far, no more pop ups, but I'll have to see if I'm just missing them since I'm not parked in front of the TV 100%. I assume turning these off means my refrigerator won't display the "your door was left open" messages on my TV if that occurs, right? But other than that, I'm not losing anything? Don't really care about the refrigerator but I assume at least SOME people have devices or appliances that they may like this feature for....
Been through every solution on this thread including this one and nothing seems to work. But instead of 47 minutes it's now 3 hours and 5 minutes that the stupid notification returns.
This is right out of some SCI Fi movie, spying on me through my TV is not ever cool, collecting my data is also not cool. But sending a popup every 47 minutes to ruin my TV watching experience is crossing the line. If youāre going to steal my data and spy on me youāre supposed to do it covertly not throw in my face every 47 minutes. Come on Samsung you could do better.
After reading some of these responses I logged on to Samsung.com from my laptop, signed in to my account, and got a pop up message about privacy terms. I clicked ok, signed off, and havenāt gotten the pop up since. Problem solved for me.
I just did the same. I'll report back if I see any more pop-ups but soon as I logged in just head to check the first box for privacy notice (none of the optional stuff) and was able to confirm.
We will see if the pop-up is gone in 2 hours or so.
