Kitchen and Family HubHello! I hope you’re doing well today.
I’m reaching out with a question and a suggestion. I’ve been searching online but haven’t been able to find a refrigerator or freezer model(s) that includes a child lock feature specifically to prevent kids from opening the doors. Most of what I see only shows locks for the control panel, water, and ice dispensers.
Do you have any plans to develop a model with a built-in child lock feature for the actual doors—something like a button or code lock on the control panel? Since school has been out, my kids have been opening the refrigerator constantly, and it’s led to a lot of food waste. I imagine other parents might benefit from a feature like this as well.
Thanks for your time, and I’d love to hear if anything like this is in the works!
Warm regards,
Lakin S.

Kitchen and Family HubThank you for your response! I’m not entirely sure how it would work, but you made some great points. Hopefully, with the technology available today, they’ll be able to come up with a safer and more efficient way to lock and unlock during times of outages. It would also be important to have a reliable method to unlock in case someone is accidentally trapped inside.

That is a great idea until you yourself want something out of refrigerator. Most freezers have locks unless they're real small. Speaking of these units or any kind unit that stopped working altogether, either take the doors off or lock them so kids can't crawl up in them and get stuck because lid or door won't open from inside. A good repurpose use for an old chess deep freezer is to cut off cord and use the chest to store all your important papers and valuables. You got a lock and key.

Kitchen and Family Hub@Tennsyn23 I wouldn't expect a big market for such a refrigerator. It would also need to be built such that anyone trapped inside could easily open the doors to escape.
