Hi- For the past few days my icemaker has stopped working (water is still dispensing) and after looking last night I noticed these finger like prongs were in the upright position. This morning I thawed out the icemaker with steam and heard a noise which resulted in three new ice cubes. The fingers were now in a "down" position. Any idea what they do? I'm pretty sure they are the source of my issue.

Kitchen and Family HubThe "fingers" are what prevents the ice from dropping before they are fully formed and frozen (or if the hopper is full). As you may have guessed, your ice maker may have frozen over a bit (this happens when the bucket is full for a long time), which prevented the stays from opening and dropping the cubes (or even making new cubes). Now that you defrosted the ice maker, it should start forming and dropping cubes again.
