I have an R.O. system and need to bypass the refrigerator's filter and put a cap over the hole. Does anyone know for certain that I do/don't need a bypass device? Any idea of the part number for the cover? It's very frustrating that Samsung overlooked such a common need and didn't put anything about this in the manual.

I've contacted Samsung and they referred me to their parts people who referred me back to Samsung. So if anyone can assist I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello userkmEcv7tU1X,

Thank you for reaching out to our Samsung Community. We do recommend having the filter in the housing however with you using the R.O. system it is not required, and the dispenser will still operate. If you wish to purchase the filter bypass as mentioned, you will need to consult a 3rd party with the understanding any damage caused by a non-genuine Samsung filter will not be covered under Samsung’s warranty.

So without the filter the dispenser will still operate and not leak? Then I am left with a hole where the filter goes. Samsung has filter caps for other models is there one available for my model?

Yes, that is correct with the filter removed there should not be a water leak. If you do encounter any water leaking you will need to review our troubleshooting article here https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10003766/#leaks-from-the-refrigerator-s-water-fil... for assistance with that aspect. Regrettably, you will need to research filter cap options as previously mentioned to further assist you with obtaining the desired part(s) and/or information being requested.
