Galaxy WatchRecently, my Samsung Watch 6 quit deleting emails or texts when I tap the DELETE button (not the trashcan icon which only removes the notification). Instead of deleting, I briefly see a watch icon with an arrow ('manage on watch' prompt) appear. I don't see any notification on the phone side and am not aware of having changed anything recently. I see this with GMail, Google Voice messaging and text messages. I have confirmed this change with a few other Samsung Watch users I know. Anyone have a way to restore the ability to purge emails/texts from my watch notifications? TIA!

Galaxy WatchAssuming you are using a common email app like gmail or outlook, you will need to Archive are Mark as Read to actually affect the notification.

Galaxy WatchThanks for the quick response! In my experience, GMail offered both a DELETE button and a trashcan icon in message notifications. The trashcan icon clears the watch notification and does nothing to the actual message, but the DELETE button would truly purge the message. Now when tapping DELETE, I briefly see a small phone with an arrow pointing to it on the left hand side and the message is not removed. Similarly, Google Voice and Messages show the same small phone briefly when tapping DELETE.
I have been using the watch for a couple years and have been able to use DELETE to remove email and texts until the past month or so. Prior to this change, I managed 50% to 75% of my messages via my watch and only moved to my phone for longer message responses.
I feel like there may be a permission or feature change, maybe even a phone OS change, requiring something be enabled but had no luck finding what that is if so.

Galaxy WatchThe Gmail watch app offers a more full featured interface than the notification as well

Galaxy WatchI do have the Gmail app on the watch and do occasionally use it. That said, to simply delete a message I have already read via the notification opening Gmail on the watch is more than needed. I also typically move to the phone for deeper message management beyond archive, delete and brief responses. The 'manage on phone' icon appearing when tapping DELETE did not occur until recently - a month back or so. I was hopeful the deletion would happen despite this 'manage on phone' prompt but no such luck as the message is not deleted or even marked read. Definitely makes managing email, Google Voice messages and texts from my watch more difficult than previously.

Galaxy WatchAdditional data point, I spoke with a few other folks I know with Samsung watches and they are experiencing the same change. One person actually got quite heated about it and my query lead to a 10 minute exorcism of his frustration about the change. ๐

Galaxy WatchBumping this topic as it is still unresolved. It is very annoying not to be able to delete a message via the watch any longer. While the Gmail/messages/google voice app works well for more elaborate messaging, if you just need to purge a message after reviewing on the notification it is not doable though it was recently. I have confirmed with a number of others with Samsung watches that this is a problem for them as well. This started before the recent watch OS update and no change after the update. Any thoughts or other resources to work with?
