On Watch 8 Touch screen to wake has to be turned back on every morning or whenever watch is restarted

Just got my Watch 8 on Thursday. Alternating between my Watch 4 for work (where it seems to get banged up) and my Watch 8 for home and days off. So far, every morning after using Watch 8 for sleep tracking and then in the afternoon after starting it back up when I get home from work, I have to reset the Touch to Wake to turn it back on. I saw this was an issue with the Beta testers on earlier watch models. Does anyone know if / when a fix might be coming out or what I need to do to have my watch keep the setting turned on? Apparently it's off by default so keeps reverting.

I have the watch 8 classic and don't have this issue. Didn't even know this was an issue to begin with. It's not a routine you have set up bugging out, correct?

Not a routine. One of the settings under display. Just did a wipe cache partition and rebooted. That setting stayed on. So I'll see how it is in the morning. Maybe that's all it needed. 🙏

Wipe the cache partition on the watch.

Make sure to start taping when screen goes black!

My 7 would do sleep mode, turn off all wake up gestures and when it would turn off on the morning my wake up gestures were restored/reverted. On my 8, it's going into sleep mode (turning off wake up gestures as I want it to), but when I wake up and sleep mode turns off, I have to go into settings to turn on touch screen to wake up... Royal pain. Never a problem with my 7.

last night I did a Wipe Cache Partition and it kept the setting after rebooting - this morning it was back off, but realized I was still in Sleep mode (but not until after I had turned it back on). So not sure if it would have restarted itself once Sleep mode turned off on its own. This morning I decided to create a routine on my watch that will turn on Touch to Wake starting a minute after Sleep mode turns off and ending a minute before Sleep mode is set to begin. We'll see how that goes!
