Got my watch delivered today and went trough the setup.  I've had pretty much every version galaxy watch and it typically goes pretty smooth..  Before I started the 8 I backed up my 7 then turned it off.  Started the new watch and went though the screens.  Got to the section where it asked if I wanted to start it as a new watch or restore.  I picked restore but then got an error saying the direct Wi-Fi connection has been lost and could not restore data.  I thought no big deal I'll restore after it gets set up.  After the 8 was ready to go, I looked around on the phone wear app and selected restore. I got the same message. Odd because I've confirmed the new watch is hooked up to the Wi-Fi.  Called support and after trying a number of things support suggested (resetting the watch etc.) , I was told that because the watch isn't officially released, sometimes all the features aren't available and the restore feature isn't available.  I was told to wait until the 25th and try again.  Kind of bummed.  I'd like to use the new watch but don't want to go though setting it up the way I like. I thought I'd be able to just restore my settings. It's always worked fine previously. I guess I'll wait a few days and try again.  If it still doesn't restore, I plan on returning it. I was on the fence about upgrading to begin with.  I was told that I'm not the only one this has happened to.

After selecting restore I get this message.  So it will only set up as a new watch at this point.

While setting up my 8 my 7 was turned off.  I turned off the 8 and the 7 on, now I can't access the back up for the 7 either and somehow my watch face on my 7 has changed.  Something is really messed up here...

It may come to that, I have a lot of custom settings and tiles.  It weld be a lot easier if it worked like it's supposed to TBH.

Same issue for me. You would think Samsung would have tested this previous to shipping thousands of watches.

I thought I posted this earlier today but guess I didn't sorry if it's a duplicate.

Today I gave it another try and I was able to restore the watch 7 data to my 8.  I did a reset on my 8 and went though the install procedure like before but this time I was able to successfully restore the data.  For the most part everything transferred well.  I looked but the restore option is still not there anywhere on the Wearable App that I can find.  It's supposed to be in the Wearable app> Watch Settings > About Watch section but I still don't see it. According to the tec support person I worked with last night said as much. I even sent a screenshot to verify we were talking about the same spot.  Maybe it will show up tomorrow or with the next update. I looked around but could nto see how to pick a backup for restoring. I can see I still have backups there.  This is what the section looks like maybe someone can check to see if theirs looks differently.
